What personal data we collect and why we collect it

How long we retain your data

Scoring Standard

Appearance & Expression 15%

Manners of entering and leaving the stage; the contestant’s self-confidence, depth and steadiness the music performance.

Proficiency 20%

The contestant is rated on their familiarity to the repertoire. Failure to memorize the repertoire is considered as serious mistake. Marks deduction will on this part only but not affecting the other parts.

Performing Skills 20%

Ability in handling the technical parts of the repertoire. Contestants will be observed on whether they are able to play the music fluently or with some difficulty.

Difficulty 20%

Depending on the competency of the contestant, this part reviews the repertoire is of easy, intermediate or advanced level

Musical Sense 25%

The ability in expressing the overall musical sense of their repertoire.

Preliminary Round (Video Competition)

  • ★ Contestants with 85 marks or above are entitled to the Final Round and awarded the ‘District Final Round Excellent Award’.
  • ★ With scores 80 or above, the District Preliminary Final ‘Merit Award’ Certificate will be awarded.
  • ★ With scores 75 or above, the District Preliminary Final ‘Good Award’ Certificate will be awarded.
  • ★ With scores below 75, the District Preliminary Final ‘Performance Award’ Certificate will be awarded.

Finals Round(Video Competition)

  • ★ According to the number of participants and the lowest score of each group in the preliminary competition, those with 85 points or above will be eligible for the finals.
  • ★ Each group has a limit on the number of people who can enter the finals. If the performance level is not ideal, no one is allowed to enter. Participants must not object.
  • ★ Limited numbers of finalists for each division in the District Preliminary Round. The HKIMF may allow no finalists for certain divisions with too few contestants and none of them reaching the Final Round standards.
  • ★ The HKIMF Organizing Committee has the final right to adjust the average number of finalists from all Districts. No one shall raise any objections.

Video Requirements

  • The contestants shall follow the requirements of the repertoire of the competition group.
  • Unlimited shooting location.
  • The film should clearly show the appearance of the contestants and be dressed appropriately for the performance.
  • Please follow the requirements of the competition group for the accompaniment part. The accompaniment part is not included in the score.
  • The video shall be a video without any editing / splicing (performing part). If there any editing / splicing is found, the video will have the opportunity to
    be disqualified.

Payment and Bank information

  • District Preliminary Round enrollment and administration fee must be submitted to the corresponding HKIMF Regional Offices.
  • Upon receiving HKIMF Final Round Entry notice, finalists should proceed to the Final Round Enrollment Payment to their HKIMF Regional Offices, then check their names from the Final Entrants’ lists from the HKIMF Official Website and WeChat by August 2020
  • Online or DVD applicants should pay the District Preliminary Enrollment Fee to the following bank accounts. Upon receiving HKIMF Final Round Entry notice, they should proceed to the Final Round Enrollment Payment
